Farmer's Project launched in Ghana

Improving the Maize marketplace
Over 250 people attended the launch of the new Development of Market Access and Postharvest Services for smallholder farmers (D-MAPS) in Ghana this month.
The three year project will improve the way maize farmers market and distribute their produce. A quarter of all food grown in Ghana is produced in this region, but farmers struggle to market and sell their crops before it starts to expire.
The launch concluded with a tour of Sahel Grains, who are supporting the project and have already committed to buying around 20,000 tonnes of maize over the next three years. One farmer can produce 1 ton of maize each year, so this project will boost the income for thousands of smallholder farmers in the area.
